Everyone knows how difficult it can be to capture a focused, clear photo or video using a smartphone or tablet. The smallest movement in the hands results in a blurry image that's best deleted. DesignersGeoffrey Blakely and his father Taylor set out to solve this vexing problem. Their solution is MyFotoBuddy: a universal tripod mount that works with smartphones and small tablets. To help deliver this much-needed product to market, the Blakelys have launched a Kickstarter campaign with the goal of raising $5,000 in 50 days.
"We haven't exactly invented the universal tripod mount, but we have invented the first one that really works as well as advertised," explained Geoffrey. "Existing mounts rely on clamps or screws, and most are only compatible with one or a few devices. MyFotoBuddy is a game changer; it's one tripod mount that works with every smartphone and small tablet on the market. There's simply no need for multi-device households to buy a different mount for each device. MyFotoBuddy does it all."
The secret behind MyFotoBuddy is its nano-suction tape. A remarkable new technology, nano-suction tape has almost limitless applications. While the surface looks and feels like smooth plastic to the touch, the tape actually consists of millions of tiny suction cups. Nano-suction tape ensures a strong grip on any smartphone or small tablet, but without leaving sticky residue or having to bother with mounting hardware.
Ingenious nano-suction tape is not the only noteworthy feature of MyFotoBuddy. The base of the tripod mount has also been designed with strength and durability in mind. A rubber grip material prevents the mount from wriggling. Unlike many competitor products, the mounting nut is metal rather than plastic.
Backers of the crowdfunding campaign, which runs through January 21, are eligible to receive their own MyFotoBuddy for a pledge of only $21. The Blakelys are confident that once more people read about this tripod mount and see the video on the Kickstarter page, the pledges will come rolling in. Both amateur and professional photographers and videographers can appreciate the value of a do-anything, go-anywhere mount like MyFotoBuddy.
